Book Review
Cross My Heart, from the cover I thought it was another paranormal stuff, but it is not. It is another one of those cliché love stories in which a good girl falls in love with the bad guy. Regardless of being one of the ‘usual plot’, the book is really, really nice.
Jaden, the heroine of the story is the type of girl you will hate in high school. She’s smart, too good to be true, wanting to save the world and is off to one of the best school in the country. She’s predictable and according to her brothers, a control-freak. I like her from the start of the story, in between and especially at the end when she really start to live life.
If our Jaden is popular, Parker isn’t. He’s somehow new, quite yet when he does talk to Jaden, it always has sense, good-looking and smart. I like their verbal intercourse, it was intellectually stimulating, I love how the literature is inserted and how their story somehow relates to it. Towards the end of the story, an unforeseen plot twist occurs that made way for an external conflict and it comes with a shocking discovery that I didn’t saw coming.
Cross My Heart, just like the characters in the book, I haven’t said that in quite a long time (probably since grade school), but Cross My Heart, this book is worth the read. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting!
