Partying with friends and scoring a flawless tan is about all Roxie has on her list of things to make her Hampton's summer perfect.
Her parents, however, have other plans and Grandma Betty's farm is just one of them.Just as her life is in shambles and the quaint town is suffocating her, she meets Chase.Somewhere in the mix of bummer summer and small town doldrums, he becomes the boy she can't seem to avoid falling for. Just adding him to the picture, her stay starts to get better, even if she knows it has to end with the summer holidays.
That is until Betty drops a life-shattering bomb.
Roxie must make a choice that will change her life forever. What happens when a spoiled brat from New York learns the true meaning of love, loss, and forgiveness?
Can Chase and Roxie find a way to be together or is this just another summer romance?

For Roxie – her summer was perfectly planned, partying with friends, getting a perfect tan. Until her parents dropped several bomb that had her world in turmoil. First, she was going to her grandmother’s farm, her parents are having some major problems and her best friend prioritizes parties rather than saying goodbye to her.

Upon arriving, she stumbles into the unfamiliar surrounding so unlike her hometown. Just as when she thought her life is near-ruin and the loneliness creeps inside her – Chase came into her life. First time they met, she was dumbfounded, unable to find her voice. He was a genuine southern boy, kind and with impeccable manners, not to mention totally HOT. With him, she knew her stay would be very much tolerable, however, her grandmother warned her to stay away from him. Reminding her that she will leave by the end of the summer and this boy is not cut out to be a summer fling.

Then, just when she begins to adjust to her surroundings, found new friends and is having a grand time of her life – Betty finally revealed an earth-shattering secret. Now, Roxie is torn between what she does best – running away or staying behind. She must make a choice that will definitely alter her future.
Roxie started as a spoiled brat at the beginning of the story and ended up to become one of the poop-scooper in her grandmother’s farm. It’s almost as hard to believe. But her change – it was gradual, and believable. Oh, there were times when I was frustrated with her, especially when she turned her nose up high or runs away. It seems to be her forte. In the end, however, she learned to finally face and fight for she wanted and needed.
I love the secondary characters, Betty such a sweet old lady. Katy – she’s a great friend, way better than Amber (I should say), and then there’s Brian too.
Another familiar plot, familiar characters, but still a great read. Knotted Roots is a story about family, friendship, forgiveness and great loss. It’s about making the right choices and facing your problems. It’s about change. Ruthie Kight wrote an amazing love story that will make you fell in love with Chase and with Roxie in the process. You may not like her at first, but as the pages goes on, you will pin for her too. I haven’t expected the ending – but I think it was perfect.

A tense silence engulfed us. I could feel the hurt pouring off of him. It seemed that I was destined to keep screwing up and hurting him. “I suck at this. Friendship, I mean.”

“How can you suck at friendship? Either you care about someone, or you don’t.” He glanced at me, barely taking his eyes off of the road.

“It’s not always that simple. At least not for me.” I barely spoke the words out loud, but I was certain that he had heard me.

“It could be, if you let it,” he tapped his fingers on the wheel. “I could help you, if you want. I’ve been told I make a pretty good friend.”

I couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my face. “Are you propositioning me?”

He laughed and the sound eased some of the tension between us. “I guess I am. But just so you know, no other friend will ever compare to me. I’m that good.”

“I’d like that. A lot,” I said quietly. When I glanced over at him I noticed that he had a huge smile on his face. “But just so you know, I will probably screw it up. Repeatedly.”

Blurb-
The southern summer was back with a vengeance.
Helping out a friend was what Katy had in mind when she agreed to give Roxie a hand on the farm.

She expected it to be an easy job wrapped in the possibility of a break from her mother’s constant vodka stupor.

What she didn’t expect was to find him.

Brian spent his life in his brother’s shadow, constantly falling short of others’ expectations.

When he gets the chance to prove himself, he's forced to decide if there’s more to him than just the mistakes he’s made.

The summer was supposed to be easy.

It was supposed to be fun.

But sometimes, when you least expect it...you fall.
