Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox - Book Review

***This book is a spin-off of Waiting on Forever with no prior books needed to be read before it***

Recent college graduate, Kayla Reynolds was ready to leave the university, sorority life behind. Leaving her boyfriend of over three years, she packed her bags and moved four hours south to the big city…New York City. Bright lights, streets that never sleep, and a business lifestyle that she yearned to have were all at her fingertips.

Kayla Reynolds was chasing her dream.

Determined and eager to make it in the corporate world, Kayla changed everything- her image, lifestyle, and outlook on life, putting her career first and her personal life second. That was until her first day, the first time she got a glimpse of Miles Blackwell. Corporate CEO and part owner of ETV, and not to mention, incredibly handsome, Miles Blackwell took Kayla by surprise, stealing her heart as he did.

But nothing had ever come that easy for Kayla. Life had always seemed to have a personal vendetta against her, stepping in when everything seemed too good to be true, reminding herself of whom she really was. It wasn’t until she met Merrick Drake that she realized when to stop; when running was no longer an option. For the first time in her life she had someone she could relate to; someone who wouldn’t judge- who saw the person she was inside. She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

When life was too much to handle, they ran.

But there was only one person that could make Kayla stop for good. Only one man that made her want to stay.

Would Kayla finally stop running or would it all be too much to handle?

MY REVIEW -

Kayla has always been a runner. After three years and a surprise proposal from her boyfriend Trevor, she ran off and accepted the dream job she was offered in New York leaving him only a Dear John letter. Her dreams were almost at her reach, so the moment she stepped foot on New York, she was eager to embrace the lifestyle in the city that never sleeps, and determined to make it on top. She was willing to set aside her personal life for career growth.
Not only she lands her dream job but she caught the attention of the rich, handsome, Corporate CEO and part-owner of ETV, Miles Blackwell. The first time they met, chemistry was already starting to ignite and the attraction was palpable. It wasn’t long before romance starts to blossom. Theirs was a whirlwind affair and it seems like a dream. She has the house, the job, the man – the complete New York Dream until fate made an awful joke that had her world crumble into pieces.

Miles has a way of creeping into your heart without you knowing it. He’s a charmer, sweet and thoughtful. He knows the right words to say and the things to do to make someone fall for him. He made some terrible mistakes, but he made up for it one grand gesture at a time. Question is, will these be enough for Kayla to forgive him?

Kayla found a connection with Merrick Drake – she enjoyed talking and spending time with him. He seems perfect, because just when she needed him the most – he was there ready to lend his shoulders and ears to comfort her. They can relate to each other – both of them were runners.

I usually find runners coward, but after reading what she had been through in the past, with her mother, you’d understand why she always had the strong urge to bolt. But until when would she ran away?

Set in three parts with first person point of view from the three main characters, Ashley Wilcox treats her readers in a short, romantic, fast-paced love story that is easy on the heart. If you want another short, breather, enough to make you fall in love and make your heart beat a little bit faster, swoon a bit without needing a box of Kleenex beside you – this one is perfect!
