Sally Friday is a mess. Not only is she tortured by self-doubt, but she is also clumsy and has no fashion sense. However, these qualities are exactly what her boss is counting on when she sends her to spy on reclusive millionaire playboy, Roman Daniels. Sally, normally an office clerk for the gossip magazine, Normandy, interviews for the position as Roman’s new secretary.
His jealous PA, Antonia, immediately hires the girl, confident that her disheveled appearance will make her invisible to Roman’s wandering eye. Reliably disaster-prone, Sally makes a memorable first impression, and Roman wonders if he will survive her employment. But there is something about Sally that Roman can’t dismiss. Unlike every other woman, she is unswayed by his masculine good looks, and he keeps catching intriguing glimpses of her feminine potential. When Sally takes a midnight dip in his pool, Roman makes an eye-popping discovery: Sally is hiding a luscious hour-glass figure beneath those baggy clothes. Her hidden assets as well as her refreshing innocence have Roman hooked.
That is, until his growing feelings and fear of commitment get in the way and he decides to back off. With the help of Roman’s best friend Paul, Sally plays to Roman’s jealousy and gives him a taste of his own medicine. But what will Roman do when Sally's deceit is revealed?
To say that Sally Friday is a mess is a freaking
understatement of the year. She was a disaster and terribly clumsy. But despite
these imperfections, you can’t help but like her. There is that innocence and a
little sprinkle of feistiness inside of her that makes her easily likable.
It was her qualities that caught the attention of her
boss, and sends her sleuthing to a reclusive millionaire playboy, Roman
Daniels. She is to be interviewed as his new secretary. His personal
assistant-slash-sometimes-bedmate, Antonia, hires her thinking that she wasn’t
a threat – well Antonia was in for the biggest surprise of her life.
Their first meeting was quite a disaster, and had made an
impact on Roman, not really because of an incident but the fact that this woman
wasn’t charmed by him. He kept on wondering if she’d ever survive working for
her knowing she was a magnet to accidents. Good thing she was still reliable
with office jobs.
When Sally took a midnight dip on his pool, Roman had his
jaw dropped to the floor. Beneath those baggy, unfashionable clothes, not to
mention the braces – lies a sexy figure, which had Roman totally drool. Problem
is, Roman wasn’t cut out for commitment, and the fear of the word itself had
him step back from his secretary. Good thing, there’s Paul – the amazing fairy
god mother, who I completely adore. Together, they played on Roman’s jealous
streak and gave him a taste of his own medicine. But the problem still lies:
what will Roman do when he uncovers Sally’s deceit?
I love watching Roman eating his own words when it came
to Sally. He has a temper, a mouth with no breaks at all, and he can really be
rude. But then, he can apologize when the situation calls for it (and perhaps a
little nudge from Paul). It was his fear that had kept him from being with
Sally, and it was the fear of commitment that had almost made him lose
her. I’m really glad he came into his
senses before he completely lose this girl. She might be accident-prone, but
she was a gem.
Sally’s clumsiness was amusing most of the times, and I wonder
if a person like her really exists. There is no day that she didn’t break
something or she hasn’t slipped. She should invest well in health insurance. But
I like what the moral of the story was all about – never judge the book by its
cover. Sally might have been a little different from the rest, but there is
more to her than her appearance. She too is a human being with emotions. It’s
just lame that other people would belittle her because of it. Nevertheless, I still
loved her because she didn’t allow people’s opinion to sink into her, and
affect her.
The mix 3rd person POVs had my head
whirling a little, but it’s nice to have a glimpse on the thoughts of every character
once in a while. This novel was easy on the heart, and had me entertained from
the start to finish.

My three children have left home, however my life is still manic. I
live with my husband he sadly won’t leave home but I live in hope
(joke). I have one suicidal cat that really does
have nine lives.
I have five Alaskan Malamutes. They own me literally as I never go
anywhere without taking their hair with me, they insist! My hobbies are
showing and working them.
My first love though is writing, it’s a total escape for me my
selfish time :) Writing my books takes me from the mundane chores of
work into another universe.
Since a child I devoured any written word and enjoy acting out my fantasies in print.
