She was born with a silver spoon on her mouth, and yet it didn’t stop her from being miserable. Ashley Montgomery is a daughter of a wealthy politician and a sister of a soon-to-be-one. She found her purpose in working as a foreign aid, volunteering to work at a refugee camp in Africa. But, in a rough turn of events, when she decided to take a vacation in one of the islands, she was taken by Somali Pirates and was held for ransom.

He was her knight without the armor. Brody Baxter was her bodyguard ten years ago, and the moment her brother sought him for help, he didn’t hesitate. He immediately took off to return Ashley to her family. But when her family, most especially her mother caused her distress, he decided to bring her into a place where she can relax and recuperate, without anyone bothering her – not the press, and most especially not her family.

All of a sudden he was back in town, in Bishop, Arkansas – a place where he grew up and not really sure he wants to come back. There were many memories, too many recollections in this town. And he wasn’t ready to face them. So he opted for another defense mechanism, distraction and denial.

He kept Ashley above his brother’s bar, allowed her to heal and trying to save himself from temptation. As a young girl, he knew Ashley was already beautiful, but growing up, she was stunning. Her bruises, and marks just showed how brave she was in surviving the ordeal that was thrown at her. It might not be an easy journey, but Brody made it much more interesting.

He saved her, now it was time for her to save him. There was something about Brody – the air of mystery that surrounds him, and the walls of self-punishment he built to protect himself. But Ashley is determined to break this walls, and see herself through. She had survived the Somali pirates with bruises and scratches, will she survive rejection and broken heart again?

This book does not only tell the story of Ashley and Brody, Molly O’Keefe gives us two great, romantic, sexy and with a touch of humor love story in one great book. We get to meet Sean, Brody’s brother. The first time I met him, he was all sunshine, and I do feel bad for him when Brody acts as if he wasn’t interested. You will love him because of his sunny disposition. The moment I read him and Cora bantering – I knew they were so meant for each other. Their teasing, their argument was their own perverted way of foreplay, and trust me when I tell you, these two had me so entertained, I couldn’t helped but laugh. Cora was his opposite too, but they were meant for each other. Just like Brody and Ashley. Brody tried to fight it off, with everything that he has, but the attraction was too much to ignore, and before they knew it, it blow right on their faces. It was pretty much explosive, enough to make you squirm on your seats.

As they were about to get their HEA, something happened that might affect her family more than they can imagine. He decided to stay away, I loved her more when she didn’t give up and decided to stay. Her courage, and her faith in what they shared was pretty much admirable.

There were so many issues in this book, but the biggest issues were all about family. They didn’t come from the perfect family, they had some issues growing up – and it would broke your heart for their younger versions to be treated like that, nevertheless, I was glad they found the happy ending they so much deserve.

Molly O’Keefe gives you a novel filled with romance, humor, and steam, with a tinge of action and drama. She knows how to engage her readers, and keep them on their seats until they’re done reading.
