Hard Knox by Nicole Williams - Blog Tour, Book Review, Giveaway

The Outsider Chronicles, #1
New Adult/Adult Contemporary
Released August 12, 2014

Knox Jagger. The name inspires resent in every male at Sinclair University, want in every female, and contempt in Charlie Chase.

Charlie can be summed up in three words: independent, independent, and independent. To Charlie, Knox epitomizes everything that’s wrong with college males: prolific one-night stands, drunken senseless fights, and a body that hints at prioritizing gym time over study time.

As an up-and-coming writer for Sinclair University’s newspaper, Charlie’s tasked with getting to the bottom of who’s been dropping little white pills into girls’ drinks at parties. In an ocean of All-American boys sporting polo shirts and innocent smiles, Knox is the obvious suspect. As evidence piles up against the bad boy of Sinclair, Charlie becomes more and more certain it isn’t Knox. But when her drink is dosed at a party and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning, Charlie’s left with more questions than answers when it comes to Knox Jagger.

How can Charlie ever hope to uncover the truth behind a guy so closed off he’s become . . .

Hard Knox.

“You,” he said quietly just outside my ear. “I see you. and I see me. Together.”

Separately, they are a force to be reckon with – together both of them can spontaneously combust.

Knox Jagger.
“I’m the guy they want to screw on the rebound. The one they want to fuck during some wild, reckless night. The one they come to when they want to piss off their fathers, or boyfriends, or anyone. I’m the guy women come to when they want to forget their life for a few minutes, and they forget me after that. I’m who they come to when they’re done waiting and want instant gratification. No one woul pick me as the one they’d wait for.”
You’d think he’s a man whore - the kind of guy with different kind of girls in his bed every night. You think he’s slick, he’s a player, and he’s the bad guy. But think again.

The first moral lesson this book thought me was to never judge the book by its cover – and think before you jump to any conclusions.

Because Knox was my unexpected. He was someone I think I knew, from all those stuffs girls have been talking about in this book, but he gave me a big surprise. Because this guy has more to him than charms, muscles and hotness. He may have a past, something any decent girl should be wary about – but he had paid his dues and still punishing himself from all the things that he did.

Charlie Chase

I don’t know whether to love or loathe this girl. Damn. She has a very strong personality, and can set a guy off his way with tears in his eyes. She’s an ambitious journalism student who knows her words, has passion for her work in the school paper, and is oozing with sarcasm and cynicism. Nevertheless, you’ll end up liking her. Because like any credible journalist would do, she dug deeper into the story before she points fingers.

She was asked to get into the bottom of who’s been dropping date drugs into girls’ drinks at frat parties. And since Knox was the only one who differs from the all-American boys sporting polo shirts and charming smiles, his name was on top of the suspect list. But as she delve more into it – she was sure it wasn’t this bad boy who was doing it, despite all the circumstances that has been pointing at him. But when her drink was drugged and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning, she knew there was more to him than what Knox would like to appear.

They started to search for the ‘villain’, the more time they spent with each other, the more they get closer to each other. And although one of them had swore that they wouldn’t cross THAT line, the attraction was too strong, and too fierce to ignore. Especially that he practically glued her to his side to keep her safe.

But what if Knox was keeping something vital to her? What if Knox was not the man she thought he is?

I had a clue about who it might be. Because I think this book will teach us that not all bad guys are dressed in wolves clothing, sometimes, they dressed as sheep too. I love how the story progressed, how the two of them come together, worked together, and solved the problem together. The ending might be a little too rush, but I was glad the culprit was found and everyone deserve what they got at the end.

Nicole Williams gave me another page-turning, can’t-put-down, i-want-to-read-it-again read, filled with interesting set of characters, enough steam to make my cold days warm, a mystery and a whole lot of twist and turns that makes HARD KNOX one perfect read.
“Ever –after promises that no matter what comes of what has been, no matter who I become or who I was, no matter who you become or who you were, nothing can break us apart. Ever-after means forever no matter what. Ever is the glue that brings two broken pieces together, and after it is the bond that keeps them that way.”
