"Some boys will keep it, some will break it, and some boys, they just won't want it. You gotta be careful who you give your heart to..." Slate Declan

First loves, we all got them. Mine is Slate Declan. He was kind, gentle, and caring. Still, he managed to break my heart. So I put miles between us, and eventually, my heart healed.

I haven’t seen Slate in years, but a couple friends and I are going back to the Bayou for the summer. While I’m visiting my hometown, I’m going to look up Slate Declan. And I plan to break his heart, just as he did mine. I'll remind him of what he has lost, and then I'll prove to him that I’ve moved on.

It should be real easy, right?

Well, let me tell you, Slate Declan is not the same guy that I left behind. And there’s another problem. How do you break someone’s heart when they no longer have one?

"He was my first everything- first love, first lay, first heartbreak."

Indeed, love can do wonders.

Slate Declan is a lost soul. He wasn’t always that way – he was kind, gentle and caring. He was the best boyfriend in the whole world, and yet he managed to break Reyna’s heart. We get a glimpse of how they were in the past, it was almost perfect and you’d wonder how in the world can it go wrong? It took one night for her perfect world to come crumbling down, and she had to run away to heal her broken heart. Now, she was back and was ready to break his. But how can you break someone who no longer has a heart?

Just like Jax, Kelly Gendron made sure her readers couldn’t put this one down. The story will easily capture your attention, your hearts and you have no choice but to get hooked in it. I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t wait for them to have their happy ending, because they so much deserved it. They have been through a lot, especially for Slate. His journey was dreadful, and somehow it was totally impossible, but then he made it. Thanks to the support coming from Reyna and his brothers.

"You are Superman, but sometimes even Superman needs to be saved."

Second chances have always been one of my favorite plots, and this one did do wonders. At first, I wasn’t sure about the whole revenge thing, I mean this guy was on his lowest point – she was going to bring back his heart so that she’d break it again (*huh?*). I think that part right there was a little weird, and almost heartless for Reyna.  Nevertheless, the story went well, and I was just glad it ended like what I envisioned it to be and not the other way around. Yay.

I just love the romance, the sexy scenes (that can blow your readers away), and the chemistry between these two. Because despite the distance and time, the love and chemistry they both have when they are together is just undeniable. It’s another great, quick read from Ms. Kelly Gendron, and I must say I greatly look forward for Zeke’s story.
"I'm going to push you as far as I can, and if you fall, I will catch you. If you're unsure, scared or not ready, then with my arms wide open, I'll wait for you."

Kelly’s motto ~ "Bad boys, give 'em a little time and experience, and they will evolve into misbehaving men!" And what hot-blooded woman doesn’t want a naughty, all grown up bad boy?
